Laurel Ridge Workforce Solutions COVID 19 STATEMENT: At the time classes were scheduled, the decision to offer in-person classes was based on current information and projections. All in-person classes will adhere to Virginia and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines/orders when the class meets. The college will provide a safe learning environment and will also follow CDC cleaning/disinfecting guidelines but cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed to COVID by other students. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) per current guidelines/orders. Should the environmental situation change, it is possible we may need to transition to alternative delivery methods such as online instruction when appropriate. Students should be prepared in the event instruction is moved online to have access to technology (computer or tablet with AV capability) and sufficient internet access.

Part of the class registration and student account set-up requests your social security number. Disclosure of your social security number is not required at this time, but it is highly recommended.  Disclosure ultimately will be required for most students at the time of enrollment, per § 6050S of the Restructuring and Reform Act of 1998, or at the time of disbursement of federal financial aid, per 34 Code of Federal Regulations Part 668.36.  Section 23-2.2:1 of the Code of Virginia also authorizes the Virginia Community College System to collect student social security numbers and other information prior to a student’s enrollment for identification and electronic transmission to the State Police.  The VCCS will only use your social security number in accordance with federal and state reporting requirements, and for identification purposes within the VCCS.  It shall not permit further disclosure unless required or authorized by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, 20 U.S.C. § 1232g, or pursuant to your obtained consent.
