Become a heavy equipment operator and earn an industry recognized credential. The Heavy Equipment Operator program was developed to meet the growing employment demands for equipment operators.
This class serves as the second level of training in the Heavy Equipment Operator program. Students will learn the following content: Introduction to the heavy highway trade, heavy equipment in highway construction, highway and bridge safety, work zone safety, soils, site work, excavation math, civil drawings, rigging practices, crane & safety procedures, and crane communications, while using simulator exercises for excavating, trenching, load handling, loading/unloading trailer, and skills challenge. Students receive hands-on training with using simulators, which replicates real-life operating scenarios through rotation-motion platforms and high-resolution 3D displays.
Registration is open to students that have successfully completed the Heavy Equipment Operator Level 1 course, or have some experience in the heavy highway industry and wish to become certified in heavy equipment operation. .
