: This course will look at the changing food environment in the U.S., including Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign, changes in the school lunch program, and examines school gardens as well as the organic and green movement. It will discuss the three steps to successful nutrition education and ideas for incorporating nutrition and fitness education into the school day. It will ask participants to think creatively about the best ways to reach kids through positive food, fitness and health behaviors!

Lesson 1
1. To identify and practice successful feeding behaviors and techniques for nutrition education, such as getting kids involving in cooking and growing food in the home and the classroom.
2. To learn how nutrition is important component for personal training clients and when to refer them to nutrition specialists.
3. To devise ways to get teachers and administrators on board to act as role models for healthful eating, physical activity and general wellness
4. To help to devise policies, effective school wellness programs and school/community programs that can effectively and affordably create a positive school food environment.
5. To learn how to advocate for local, state and federal policies that improve regulations
on child nutrition, including school lunches.
