: Navigating through evidence-based research, this course will explore important nutritional recommendations for preconception, pregnancy, and infant and toddler feeding. In addition, it will also address food planning strategies for families (healthy meal and snack ideas, exercise, and family support) to embrace healthy living and eating post-delivery. This course will debunk many common myths and provide a basic understanding of the most current maternal and child nutrition recommendations. Learn why early nutrition is the key to preventing childhood obesity and obesity later in life, as well as where to find excellent books and online resources for deeper exploration of topics of interest.

Lesson 1
1) To be able to identify at least four ways to determine if an online nutrition source is credible.
2) To understand the basic role of nutrition and appropriate nutrition recommendations during preconception, pregnancy, lactation, infancy, and toddlerhood.
3) To understand vitamin and mineral supplementation during preconception, pregnancy, lactation, infancy, and toddlerhood.
4) To be able to list at least four common nutritional problems during pregnancy, infancy and toddlerhood, and recommendations for improving them.
5) To be able to list four strategies that mothers and their partners can use to ensure that a mother recovers well post-delivery.
6) To understand common breastfeeding problems and their solutions.
7) To understand the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby, and at least three contraindications to breastfeeding.
8) To be able to identify types of infant formula and recommended usage.
9) To be able to identify basic recommendations for the introduction of solid foods to infants.
10) To be able to identify ways to effectively implement post-partum weight loss.
