Short Description: As the usage of energy increases it is imperative that businesses seek green energy sources. With this training program we will explore alternative energy sources and ways to help conserve, reduce, reuse, recycle, and minimize the impact on our planet. We will examine the history of sustainability practices and challenges that we currently face. This program will address the main characteristics of the emerging generation of technologies which will be employed to provide energy for the power grid over the next 20 years. This program covers solar energy in its various forms, such as photovoltaic, thermal and thermodynamic energy conversion, taking into account the various issues associated with the connection of these solar plants to the grid. We will also cover wind technologies, wave power and geothermal energies. We will provide the foundation concepts and standards for the residential, commercial and institutional green building industry. This program will also discuss how to successfully start your own environmentally-friendly business including how to create a sustainable business model and selecting eco-friendly products. With this program, students will be prepared to start their own Green Energy consulting business or just start their own green business. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be prepared to sit for the Certified Sustainability Specialist certification exam from NCCB. The certification is included in the program tuition!
Instructor Description: Though this program is a self-paced program it is supported by an educational mentor. Educational mentors are subject matter experts who have years of experience in their field as well as the necessary educational training and credentials to work as an expert. The mentor is available to answer any questions a learner may have including questions on course content, course material, certifications, and even industry questions. Mentors also monitor the progress of learners to ensure training retention and program advancement. In eLearning, motivation is a key tool to success. Because of this, mentors provide encouraging comments, feedback, and coaching to motivate learners throughout the duration of the program to support completion and success!
Certification: Upon successful completion of the LEED Green Associate course, students will be prepared to sit for the U.S. Green Building Council - LEED Green Associate Certification exam to become a Certified LEED Green Associate. LEED Green Associates have a documented, up-to-date understanding of the most current green building principles and practices, and are committed to their professional future.
