FastForward Eligible Program: To qualify for FastForward programs, you must meet the Virginia Domicile requirements. Virginia "domicile" means you have lived in Virginia for at least one year and intend to stay indefinitely. A domicile determination form will be part of your registration process. If you qualify, you will pay one-third (1/3) of the cost of the program. Learn more about FastForward. * You must come into the WSCE Office to apply for FANTIC prior to registering.

COURSE PREREQUISITES: HS Diploma, GED or you are scheduled to earn your GED within the next 12 months.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Phlebotomy Technicians collect samples from patients for laboratory tests in a skillful, safe, and reliable manner. This class will include practical hands on experience so that you will be prepared for a successful future as a phlebotomist. However, due to current situations, a portion of this course may use online components. Therefore, regular access to a computer/internet access is required. Externships are based upon site availability and student requirements; the current situation may impact this as well. While there are jobs as a “Phlebotomist”, many students choose to learn this skill as a part of enhancing their future opportunities. Books and supplies are included in the class. After completing all of the requirements needed, you will be able to sit for a national certification. CERTIFICATION: Upon successful completion of this program, student will be eligible to sit for the National Heathcareer Association (NHA) Certified Phlebotomy (CPT) national exam.
