Short Description: The demand for skilled pharmacy technicians is rapidly growing. If you are interested in a dynamic career in a high paced medical field, this course is for you. This course provides an overview of the history of pharmacology and the day to day responsibilities of a pharmacy technician in hospital and retail pharmacy settings. Common drugs and their uses, as well as how they are administered and possible interactions in the body are described. Patient confidentiality laws, including HIPPA and prescription regulations, such as who can prescribe medication are also discussed.

Instructor Description: This class is an independent-study course. Students will have all the resources needed to successfully complete the course within the online material. A student helpdesk is available for technical support during the course enrollment.
