Language: English

Short Description: Communication is the process of transmitting information from one person or place to another. Some of it occurs via a formal communication channel that is the official channel that carries organizationally approved messages and information. Other messages are transferred through the grapevine, which is the transmission of messages from employee to employee outside of formal communication channels. Managers frequently use one-on-one communications as the couch and counsel their workers. No matter the vehicle, all communication is impacted by nonverbal elements.

To effectively manage workflow and worker productivity, managers need to have an understanding of the communication process and how to effectively send and receive messages. This course discusses the communication process and the main communication channels in the workplace.

Instructor Description: This class is an independent-study course.  Students will have all the resources needed to successfully complete the course within the online material.  A student helpdesk is available for technical support during the course enrollment.
